Dr. David Muzykewicz was born and raised outside of Boston, Massachusetts. He attended and graduated college at Harvard University and medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Thereafter, he moved west and completed a six-year Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of California San Diego, which included a year of dedicated research. He then completed his Hand Surgery Fellowship at the Brown University Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship in Providence, Rhode Island. Over this time, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in the orthopaedic and hand surgery literature.
Dr. Muzykewicz established his private surgical practice in Dallas in 2018, partnering with prominent hand surgeon Dr. Bo Frederick until Dr. Frederick’s retirement in 2026.
Dr. Muzykewicz has a keen interest in surgery of the hand and wrist, treating a wide array of pathologies across multiple age groups, including compressive neuropathies like carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinopathies like trigger finger, fractures, and arthritis. He is comfortable with open, arthroscopic, and microscopic surgical techniques as indicated on a case-by-case patient-centered basis. He is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, has a Subspecialty Certification in Surgery of the Hand, and is an active fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He provides hand surgery consultation for Southern Methodist University (SMU) collegiate athletics.
Dr. Muzykewicz is married with three daughters. He enjoys sports, running, travel, and spending his free time with his family. He has served as a proud youth girls basketball coach for each of his daughters.
